-I graduated from the Centre for Arts and Technology. I went through a lot of hell trying to get a college degree over the past eight years or so, so it feels incredible to be done.
-Unfortunately, my attempts to get into the animation industry proved fruitless, so I started to look for a 'normal' job in town to keep from living on the streets. I also wanted try and save up $500 so I could afford the damage deposit required for CATO's six-month program, which would allow me to add to my demo reel and hopefully improve my chances at getting hired.
-I got hired in December at the mall's Tim Hortons, only to be promptly fired after only two shifts for not being 'perky' enough. Bullshit.
-Applied for welfare, and spent about a month getting jerked around trying to get through the application process.
-In January, I got hired as a cook at our local East Side Mario's. Unfortunately, because of their sorry excuse of a training program, I wasn't able to meet their ridiculous expectations and was fired AGAIN. And because I got a job, the welfare agency completely scrapped my application, and informed me that if I wanted to qualify for assistance, I'd have to start the entire god damn process over again from the very start.
-All through February, I fell into the worst depression I've experienced in six years. I felt like a worthless failure, and no matter how hard I tried, nothing could make me happy. Somewhere during that time, I turned 25.
-As of March, the depression finally seems to be lifting, allowing me to draw again. I've been on an encouraging streak this week, so there should be some updates soon. I'm still looking for a job, and applied for welfare again. They finally called me back a few nights ago, and will be trying to set an appointment for me on the 30th.
With any luck, I'll be able to keep updating through the month. A lot of my work can also be found on my blog, which I try to update weekly.
